PDF Hyperlinks: Adding Tappable Links
With GoodReader, you can add custom hyperlinks anywhere on your PDF pages.

You can use standard URL links to connect your PDF to:
- Websites: using
http://orhttps:// - Email addresses: using
mailto: - Local files: using
file://– Note: Only use relative paths from the PDF`s current location; absolute paths are not supported.
How PDF Links Work:
Unlike standard web pages, PDF links are not attached to text or pictures. Instead, they act like invisible tap zones that sit on top of the page.
Because of this, GoodReader lets you draw a simple rectangle to choose exactly where your link goes.
How to Add a Link:
- Tap and hold anywhere on the page.
- Select the Rectangle tool.
- Move and resize the rectangle over the area you want to make clickable.
- Tap URL Link instead of "Done".
Unlike standard drawing shapes, a hyperlink cannot be selected or deleted once it is finalized. Your only chance to remove it is to use the Undo feature immediately after creation.
Recommendation: Always create a backup copy of your PDF before adding hyperlinks. This ensures you can easily revert to the original, unmodified file if needed.
